Columbia Turnpike Bridge LCD Study – Public Information Center September 11, 2018

PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTER NOTICE Morris County, in coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), are conducting a study to determine appropriate improvements to the Columbia Turnpike Bridge. Morris County is hosting its second Public Information Center about the study on September 11. The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public about study objectives, status and schedule, and solicit public comments on potential improvements developed as part of this study.  Study team members will be in attendance to present information and answer questions. Comments cards will be available. The public is encouraged to attend and provide feedback.

On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, Morris County in coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), conducted a Local Concept Development (LCD) study to determine appropriate improvements to the Columbia Turnpike Bridge located in the Borough of Florham Park, New Jersey.

The purpose of the Public Information Center was to inform the public about the study objectives, status of the study and schedule. The Public Information Center provided an opportunity to identify concerns and obtain input on the study’s draft Purpose and Need statement. Study team members were in attendance to present information and answer questions.

Project Status – Data Collection Work Underway (March 2018)

The project team is currently conducting data collection to evaluate existing conditions. Ongoing work includes: project mapping and field survey; environmental screenings; verification of utilities; evaluation of deficiencies; obtain bridge inspection reports; traffic data; crash data; stakeholder coordination; public outreach; and the development of a project Purpose and Need Statement. Learn More.
